Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 has finally arrived! This was a surprise to all of us, even though it was well hinted at MIX08. IE8 was something that all developers have been waiting for waiting for.
Installing
You may download the Beta1 here. Since this is beta, it is publicly available, and does not require you to pass the Genuine Windows Authentication.
Installing does take a while, and it does not even have a progress bar to tell you how much time is left to complete, rather it gives you the "marquee" scrolling progress bar which just tells the current user, "yes, it's installing, but we won't tell you how much progress it has made".
After installing, it prompts to restart, which I did, only to find myself presented with "Windows is configuring updates." That was not the end. Once Windows loaded up again, I was, once again, presented with "Configuring Updates".
Please, install IE8 only if you have 15 minutes to spare!
