Free-to-Air Satellite Programming

When a person goes home after having a tiresome day, often the first thing they does is switch on the television. This, we all know. Though has anyone ever wondered how many people actually pay for watching cable? The average price for satellite subscription, from major providers such as Bell and Rogers, is around $34 CAD (About 33 USD). For those who are already earning very little, these $34 are a killer. How-To: Setup dual monitors

Dual-monitors are all the rage these days. In this how-to I'd like to show you how to setup your dual-monitor configuration.

What you will need:

  • 2 PC monitors. Make sure at least 1 of them as a DVI input as you don't always get a DVI to VGA converter with it.
  • A graphics card with 2 outputs (Usually VGA and DVI). Most new graphics cards have this capability

Microsoft and blu-Ray

Microsoft officials have officially denied any plans to incorparate the victorious Blu-Ray drive in their console gaming system, the Xbox 360. Sony might be celebrating the victory but, in Microsoft's eyes, the real winner is about to emerge. The main reason for Microsofts rejection of Blu-Ray was their belief in the real money being in digital; Xbox Live's capability of delivering movies (including High Definition Movies) and other content and allowing users to download it instantly. The online digital media, instead of physical media,  seems to be better placed in the minds of MS officials.

Restarting Computer vs Shutting It Down

Your daily tip for today will help you understand what happens internally in the computer system when a reboot is initiated. There are two kinds of reboot, Soft Boot and Hard Boot (Cold Boot).

A hard boot occurs when the computers electrical power is cycled (turned on and off). Occasionally a cold boot occurs when you turn the computer off for the day, and turn it on again. It can also occur when there is a power failure, a fatal computer error (where the restart signal to the processer is not functional) or even by accident. If a system is put into hard boot in a way that should not happen (ie, a power failure), it leaves the hard drive in a "unclean" state. More...
